Difference between Core Java and Advanced Java

Java was introduced in 1995 and ever since its introduction, it has continued to evolve and contribute to the software world in a way that even today, its importance in running various applications cannot be neglected. But, java too can be easily categorised into advanced and core and learning the difference between them is very important.

Difference between Core Java and Advanced Java

1. Core java  is the basic java which includes very simple concepts and is used for general applications. Also, the Java standard edition (JSE) is called core java. Advanced java on the other hand is an extension of the core java but with advanced concepts and hence it is used for enterprise level applications. Also, Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) is called advanced java. 
2. The core java comprises of various packages like awt, string, lang, io etc. for programming purpose and concepts like OOPS, Wrapper classes, special operators, data types, stack, linked list, etc. Advanced java includes the core java features as well as comprises of advanced concepts like Swings, socket programming, servlets, thread concepts, etc.
3 It comprises of the Single level architecture.  It comprises of client-server architecture.
4 Core java is used for desktop applications like Thinkfree, JPC, Ultramixer, Murex, Eclipse IDE, Netbeans IDE etc. Advanced java is used for web applications like Google, Facebook, Linkedin, Amazon, twitter, IRCTC.co.in etc.
5 Most of the packages of core java starts with “java.lang”. Advanced java packages start with “javax.servlet”.
6 It doesn’t provide dynamic solutions. Provides dynamic solutions.
7 Core java doesn’t provide for a specialization. It provides for specialization in domains such as networking, web, DCOM, database handling, etc.
